OVERHEAD CRANE AND GENERAL PURPOSE WIRE ROPE TYPES [top]
     
Class 6x19 Overhead Crane and General Purpose Wire Rope
Class 6x19

Wear and crush resistant rope but not very flexible. Used as winch line, boom pendants, boom hoist rope, anchor lines. Also used as hoisting rope on older type overhead cranes.
     
Class 6x37 Overhead Crane and General Purpose Wire Rope   Class 6x37

Flexible standard hoisting rope for many overhead crane types. One of the most versatile low strength-low cost rope constructions.
     
8x19 / 8x36 / DoPar Overhead Crane and General Purpose Wire Rope   8x19 / 8x36 / DoPar

Original equipment rope for DEMAG cranes. Available in left- and right hand lay. Also used on many other overhead crane types. Very flexible but requires some extra care during installation. Not crush resistant due to very fine outer wires.
     
Plastic Filled 6-Strand Overhead Crane and General Purpose Wire Rope  

Plastic Filled 6-Strand

Plastic infused wire rope used mainly as steel mill skip hoist applications. Polymer infusion prevents penetration of dirt and abrasive objects thus reducing rope wear. Also used in ceratin marine, mining and pulling applications.
     
ROTATION RESISTANT AND NON-ROTATING WIRE ROPE TYPES [top]
     
8x19 Spin Resistant Wire Rope   8x19 Spin Resistant

Old type spin-resistant construction used primarily in the construction industry. This type has the tendency to break up from the inside and to fail unexpectedly. We believe this is a dubious rope to be used as a spin resistant type and therefore DO NOT RECOMMEND IT TO BE USED.
 
19x7 Rotation Resistant Wire Rope   19x7 Rotation Resistant

Standard rotation-resistant rope type mainly used on mobile cranes. NOT to be used with a swivel. If allowed to rotate freely (e.g. single line application) this type will loose between 30% to 40% of its strength. Tends to deteriorate from the inside out due to premature core wire breaks.
     
GALVANIZED AND STAINLESS STEEL (SO CALLED "AIRCRAFT CABLE") [top]
     
Galvanized Cable (Carbon Steel) -- so called "aircraft cable"   Galvanized Cable (Carbon Steel)

General purpose flexible cables with a steel core. Available from 1/16" to 3/8" diameter for a multitude of applications. These cables are galvanized to better resist corrosion and are not lubricated for a clean appearance.
 
Stainless Steel Wire Rope and Cable   Stainless Steel Wire Rope and Cable

Smaller sizes up 1/8" contain 49 wires, sizes up to 3/8" contain 133 wire. Made from 302/304 stainless steel.
     
PVC Coated Galvanized Cable   PVC Coated Galvanized Cable

Same basic construction as above but is coated with PVC or Nylon and is available in various colours.

The fabrication and attachment of wire rope end fittings onto a wire rope is a core competency of Chisholm.
